


At the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform’s 11th Annual Legal Reform Summit on October 27, 2010, former U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey moderated this discussion on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and its impact on U.S. global competitiveness, enforcement activities by the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission, and what, if any, reforms could be implemented. ILR also released “Restoring Balance: Proposed Amendments to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act” by Andrew Weissman, a partner at Jenner & Block who participated in the panel discussion.
Other panelists included Cheryl J. Scarboro, Chief of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Unit in the Division of Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission; George J. Terwilliger, a partner at White & Case who heads the firm’s Global White Collar Practice and previously served as Deputy Attorney General of Justice Department Operations; and Jay Darden, a partner at Patton Boggs who previously served in the Justice Department as assistant chief of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section.
