ExxonMobil Sues Massachusetts AG Over Climate Probe

June 16, 2016

ExxonMobil has sued Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Tracy Healy in federal court over Healy’s “demand for decades of records” related to her probe of the company’s past statements and research over climate change.

ExxonMobil said the Attorney General’s "allegations, however, are nothing more than a weak pretext for an unlawful exercise of government power to further political objectives.”

The company is seeking an injunction “barring enforcement of the demand and declaration of abuse of process and violations of the First, Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments and Article One of the U.S. Constitution,” reports Courthouse News Service.
