Opioid Lawyers Pump Over $100k into Bexar County DA Campaign After He Hired Them: On January 19, Bexar County District Attorney Nico LaHood asked the County Commissioners Court to approve a potentially lucrative lawsuit contract for four Texas firms to represent the county in opioid litigation. Martin Phipps of Phipps Anderson Deacon, which will receive 50 percent of all fees collected under the contract, held a fundraiser for LaHood 20 days prior to signing it, and made a subsequent donation of $100k to his campaign three weeks after it was approved by the County.
