Indiana lawmakers are considering regulations for lawsuit loans. The practice is currently unregulated in the state, allowing lenders to charge high interest rates to borrowers. Fort Wayne Journal Gazette

Former DOJ chief operating officer David Ogden said that the government is paying an excessive amount to whistleblowers under the False Claims Act. In October, ILR released a white paper authored by Ogden and Peter Hutt that contained a number of recommendations for the FCA. Corporate Counsel

The administrator of the gulf oil spill fund has confirmed that he approved a $173,000 payout to an “adult escort service.” BP says the company’s claim was filed with unsigned and undated documents in another example of the fund paying millions of dollars for fictitious and inflated claims.
