Today, a judge will determine whether they can use the “necessity” defense- that the trespassing charge should be tossed because their actions were necessary to stop environmental damage. Burford Says It Poured $1.3B Into Legal Market in 2017: Litigation funding firm Burford Capital announced it sent $1.3 billion to new investments in 2017, with an emphasis on portfolio litigation financing over single case funding.
