Defense Bar Group No Fan Of Shell Co. Transparency Bill: The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) said the Corporate Transparency Act of 2017 is “flawed criminal lawmaking.” The NACDL said the bill’s “broad reach, vague definitions and authorization of further regulatory input”  make it possible for law-abiding citizens to be convicted “even where there is inadequate intent to violate the law.” Business groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce also oppose the bill.
