Business advocates said the California Consumer Privacy Act contains “subjective” language at a meeting with state government officials, Law.com reports.

A compliance officer at the Travis Credit Union said the law’s requirement that all notices be “easy to read” is “subjective and does not contemplate a method or metric to ensure readability.” Other advocates say there may be “technical problems” behind complying with some provisions, and the number of requirements “adds an extra level of uncertainty and costs.”

Additional meetings will be held throughout the state this week and the attorney general will consider the comments before his office drafts final regulations. The new regulations under the law will go into effect on July 1, 2020.
