Lawyers have contributed over $373,000 to the campaigns of Missouri State Sen. Scott Sifton, who has tried to water down efforts to rein in forum shopping in the state, the St. Louis Record reports.

Sifton recently proposed an amendment to a bill that would dilute provisions to limit the ability of out-of-state plaintiffs to sue in Missouri courts. The state ranked 50th for its venue laws in the 2017 Lawsuit Climate Survey: Ranking the States. The Record’s examination of campaign contribution data found the lawyers have covered about 20 percent of Sifton’s campaign donations since 2015.
