“We’re a medical device company in Minnesota. I started it 20 years ago. We have 100 medical devices that we develop and sell. We’ve got 600 employees. We went public about 15 years ago. It’s kind of a classic American entrepreneurial success story. But over the last five years, the Department of Justice tried to throw me in prison because they literally claimed that our sales reps said the wrong words about an approved product when they were selling it to a doctor,” said Howard Root, president and founder of Vascular Solutions.
His company spent $25 million in defense costs to successfully fight a U.S. Justice Department indictment over off-label marketing allegations.
