  • Class Actions: Auto Insurers Didn't Offer Enough Premium Relief Amid COVID Lockdowns
August 14, 2020

Even while offering a 15-20 percent discount to drivers, insurance companies in Illinois are still facing lawsuits alleging they have not provided enough relief, according to a report in Legal Newsline.  On July 29, attorneys with the firm Romanucci & Blandin of Chicago filed four class action lawsuits, each of them targeting a different insurer. The complaints allege that even though the insurers gave policy holders credits, they violated Illinois’ consumer fraud and deceptive practices law by not giving more.

The plaintiffs are seeking to expand the lawsuits to include all Illinois auto insurance customers who have held policies through each of the insurance companies since March. The complaints seek unspecific compensatory damages from the companies for every one of the counts.
