  • ILR's Lawsuit Climate Survey Garners Wide National Media Coverage
September 11, 2015

Yesterday, ILR and Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner sent a strong message through the news media about the need to improve the civil liability climate in Illinois and throughout the country. Our press conference to launch the 2015 Lawsuit Climate Survey: Ranking the States was a great success and well attended by both national and local media.

Thus far, yesterday’s survey release has resulted in wide media coverage throughout the country, including:

  • National coverage in the Associated Press, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Reuters and Business Journals.
  • Wide Illinois coverage, including ten separate television stations and this Chicago Tribune article.
  • Co-authored op-eds by Lisa Rickard with West Virginia Chamber President Steve Roberts in the Charleston Gazette Mail; Florida Chamber President Mark Wilson in the Tampa Bay Times; and, Arkansas Chamber President Randy Zook in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
  • Additional state outlets, including:(FL) Miami Herald, Orlando Business Journal, Tampa Bay Times, and St. Peters Blog, (GA) Atlanta Business Chronicle, and Atlanta Journal Constitution, (IL) Capitol Fax (subscription-only), (LA) Greater Baton Rouge Business Report, and (MO) St. Louis Business Journal.

And we’re not done yet. We expect media coverage of the event to keep up in the coming days with more op-eds to appear in key states and radio interviews scheduled with Fox News and Hugh Hewitt.

Our national television and online campaign is also in full swing and you can view our television ad, titled “2015 Rankings: Where Does Your State Rank?” here. The full study is available online at
