FDA: Coffee Does Not Need California Warning Label: On Wednesday, the Food and Drug Administration said coffee products should not be subject to cancer warning labels under California’s Proposition 65, as ordered by a state judge this March. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the label could “mislead consumers to believe that drinking coffee could be dangerous to their health when it actually could provide health benefits." The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has proposed a regulation that would exempt coffee products from carrying the label. (NPR)
