Lawyers for plaintiffs and Toyota have asked a judge to establish an “intensive settlement process” for resolving hundreds of lawsuits over alleged instances of unintended acceleration. Toyota has won three of the four bellweather cases that have gone to trial. New York Times

The front page of the National Law Journal highlights ILR’s paper “Fixing the False Claims Act.” On behalf of ILR, one of the paper’s authors, David Ogden, has been pushing for reforms to the law that would put more emphasis on preventing fraud in the first place.

The Supreme Court agreed to hear a case on whether employees can sue their employer for loses to 401(k) plans. The class action accuses a bank of allowing workers to invest in company stock when it knew the shares were risky. Wall Street Journal ($)
