Surge in Food Labeling Lawsuits An Example of “Lawyer-Driven Litigation”: ILR Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications Bryan Quigley called the surge in food labeling lawsuits “lawyer-driven litigation for the purposes of a settlement that often enriches the plaintiffs’ firm and gives the broad class pennies or coupons.” The plaintiff in a recent lawsuit against Ricola cough drops alleges the slogan “naturally soothing” is fraudulent because the drops contain artificial ingredients.
