2nd Circuit Tosses “Creative” Securities Suit Against Cigna: The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit tossed a securities lawsuit against Cigna, which one judge called “a creative attempt to recast corporate mismanagement as securities fraud.” The lawsuit was brought after the company ran into regulatory issues over its acquisition of HealthSpring in 2012. Pa. Supreme Court Warns Against Questionable Evidence in Asbestos Cases: The Pennsylvania Supreme Court said the use of vague evidence of asbestos exposure makes it almost impossible for jurors to split damage awards in multi-defendant cases. One justice asked, “How does a jury do this in a nonarbitrary way when all the evidence suggests it’s impossible?” (Law360)
