U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) is calling for a renewed push for patent reform, in the wake of the FTC’s settlement with MPHJ and its law firm Farney Daniels P.C. over allegations they "used deceptive sales claims and phony legal tactics in demand letters accusing thousands of businesses of patent infringement.” (LegalNewsline)

An increasing number of companies are utilizing West Virginia’s two-year-old business court. Thus far in 2014, the court has received a total of 60 applications, forty-one of which have been referred to the Business Court Division. That’s up from 30 applications and 14 referrals in all of 2013. (West Virginia Record)
