  • Is Florida Becoming A Climate Litigation Target?
July 11, 2019

Reports from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) suggest that Florida municipalities are actively being pitched by private lawyers to bring lawsuits against the energy industry, the Center Square reports.

NAM says similar efforts like those taken last year and earlier this year in Fort Lauderdale to bring lawsuits against energy companies in an effort to sue them over the potential effects of climate change are continuing. Activists and trial lawyers pitched Fort Lauderdale on such a suit, but the city eventually decided not to sue. According to NAM, these same environmental and legal groups are pitching other Florida cities like Miami Beach and Jacksonville.
