Lisa Rickard, president of ILR, participated in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Monumental Issues video series. Rickard spoke in front of President Lincoln’s cottage in Washington, D.C. about lawsuit abuse and the need for legal reform.
“Lincoln was a trial lawyer who counseled against stirring up litigation. He said that even the winner of a lawsuit is often the real loser in both time and money. One hundred and sixty years later abusive lawsuits are still with us, and that helps to make our lawsuit system the most expensive on earth.”
“America has truly become the land of lawsuits, and Americans don’t like this at all. Nearly 90% say that there are too many lawsuits.”
