West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice appointed Circuit Judge John Hutchinson to fill the seat of convicted Justice Allen Loughry on the state’s Supreme Court, the West Virginia Record reports.
Hutchinson, who has been a circuit judge since 1995, will serve until the next judicial election in May 2020. The winner of that election will stay on the bench until December 2024, which would have been the end of Loughry’s term. Loughry resigned after being found guilty on 11 federal felony charges of wire fraud, mail fraud, witness tampering, and lying to federal agents.
