  • Securities Class Action Filings At "Near-Record Pace"

A new report from Cornerstone Research shows that securities class action lawsuit filings were at a “near-record pace,” D&O Diary reports.

The report found that there were 198 federal securities class action filings in the first half of 2019, which is 87 percent higher than the half-year average between 1997 and 2018. This pace would lead to a year-end total of 396 filings, which is also 87 percent higher than the full-year average between 1997 and 2018, but slightly lower than the 403 total filings last year. D&O Diary’s Kevin LaCroix said the numbers represent a “filing trend that has continued now across several of the last years.”
