report from D&O Daily says the judge in the State Street case concluded that the lawyers at two of the lead plaintiff law firms violated provisions of the professional code of conduct and referred the attorneys to the local state bar professional practices unit. District of Massachusetts Judge Mark Wolf also cut down the fees for the firms at acted as class counsel from $75 million to $60 million.

The ruling comes after three law firms that won a $300 million class settlement from State Street Corp. admitted to overstating their billing by 10 percent.
