  • With Nationwide Hand Sanitizer Shortage, a New Lawsuit Claims Target Made Misleading Statements About Hand Sanitizer
April 08, 2020

Alarm over coronavirus has caused a run on hand sanitizers. And now, sanitizers are exceedingly hard to come by, but even with this shortage a woman in California has filed a class action lawsuit against Target over their hand sanitizer according to a report in Legal Newsline. The suit claims that Target is misleading its customers with false advertising for its hand sanitizer. The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California is seeking to stop the retailer “from engaging in deceptive advertising and business practices concerning false and misleading promotion of its hand sanitizer that purports to eliminate 99.9% of germs."

The plaintiff is suing for negligent misrepresentation, violations of California’s Business & Professional Code, intentional misrepresentation, and violations of the California Civil Code. The plaintiffs asked for relief, including an injunction that would stop Target from spreading alleged false statements.
