New Jersey is ranked #43 in the 2019 Lawsuit Climate Survey: Ranking the States, dropping two positions since 2017. This is the lowest rank it has received in the survey’s history. It improved in the key element categories of Trial Judges’ Impartiality, Trial Judges’ Competence, and Quality of Appellate Review, but declined in five others.
